WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Imo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has a new Acting state Chairman in the person of Chris Odoemenam. This was revealed on Friday by a member representing Ideato North and South at the Federal House of Assembly, Ikenga Ugochinyere addressing newsmen and supporters at his country home in Akokwa in the Ideato North Local Government Area of the state. Ugochinyere stated that the appointment of Odoemenam in an acting capacity was due to the absence of elected members of the State Working Committee of the party within the state. He further asserted that the Congress which resulted in the election of Austin Nwachukwu as the state chairman of the party was invalid and described Nwachukwu as a puppet of the national secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu. The Federal legislator stated that, as the party leader in the state, it was his duty to safeguard the integrity of the PDP from being undermined within the party. He said: “Down here, because there was no state Congress, party members, leaders and Organs gathered and said the party must move forward. “And have communicated to me as the state leader of the party Imo and as the only elected public leader on the platform that there has been change of guard and that the new acting chairman of Imo PDP is Chief Chris Odoemenam and Chief Sylvester Durubuaku as the state secretary. “And we are calling on the National Working Committee also to immediately recognise the new interim executives of Imo PDP in view of the fact that there is vacancy in Imo PDP.”
