AS Roma Women have confirmed the signing of highly rated Nigerian defender Shukurat Oladipo from NWFL side Robo Queens, Soccernet.football reports.

The 20-year-old has penned a contract with the Italian giants that runs until June 30, 2027, taking a significant step in her promising career.

Oladipo arrives in Italy with a wealth of experience despite her young age, having made 178 appearances for Robo Queens. She has also represented Nigeria at international level, featuring at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and earning two senior caps for the Super Falcons.

The talented defender follows in the footsteps of former Robo Queens graduates, including Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Aminat Yakubu, and Folashade Ijamilusi, all of whom progressed to major European clubs.

Expressing her delight at the move, Oladipo said: “I’m very happy, I feel so excited. It’s a very big opportunity for me to join a very big team like AS Roma.”

She added: “Coming to Italy and playing for AS Roma is a very big life-changing experience for me, and it will help my career grow as a footballer and as a person. I’m a very hardworking, versatile player, and I’m passionate about the game.”

With her sights set on making an impact, she stated: “My target is to help the team achieve their objectives for the season. I also want to improve as a player and build a connection with the coaches, my teammates, the fans, and the entire AS Roma family.”

Oladipo has already joined training and could make her debut on Saturday, February 15, when Roma face Sassuolo in the Italian Women’s Cup semifinal first leg.
