Ogun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel is no longer a recognized member of the party.

The party insisted that his suspension remains valid and effective.

In a letter sent to the APC National Chairman, the state leadership reaffirmed that any political or official dealings with the Senator “are invalid.”

The party said the lawmaker has continued to disregard party rules and discipline despite being formally suspended.

According to a statement released in Abeokuta by Lekan Adeniran, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, the letter — dated October 3, 2025 — was signed by the State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, and the State Secretary, Hon. Tella Aderibigbe.

The APC explained that Senator Daniel was suspended on August 19, 2025, and the decision was properly communicated to him.

Citing Article 21 (vii) of the party’s constitution, the statement noted that any suspended member automatically loses all privileges, including voting rights, attendance at meetings, and participation in party activities.

“As part of the disciplinary processes outlined in our constitution, a member suspended pending investigation is expressly barred from participating in the proceedings of any party organ,” the party emphasized.

It further warned government officials, political associates, and the general public to desist from recognizing Daniel as a member of the APC until his suspension is lifted.

“Any and all dealings with Otunba Olugbenga Daniel in the capacity of a bona fide member of the APC are invalid, unrecognized, and of no effect to the party,” the statement added.

The Ogun APC maintained that it would continue to uphold discipline, order, and respect for its constitution.

However, in a swift reaction, the Media Aide to Senator Daniel, Steve Oliyide, dismissed the suspension, describing it as “the handiwork of some individuals who are afraid of his rising profile and close relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

He said the so-called suspension was not from the ward where the senator is registered.

According to him, the move was orchestrated by some “unknown Ward 4 executives” in Sagamu Local Government, whereas Daniel belongs to Ward 12 (Isote) in the same council area.

Oliyide explained that the leaders and members of Ward 12 had already petitioned the state and national executives to reject what he called an “illegal and politically motivated” action.

He also alleged that the statement being circulated was “not signed by anyone” and that the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor had been “using government platforms to push a false narrative.”

“The statement was not signed by anybody. But our investigation revealed that they were being circulated by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor. When has the CPS to the Governor become the spokesperson to the party?” Oliyide queried.

He also challenged those behind the claims to produce proof of the alleged letter sent to the National Chairman or the supposed suspension document, insisting that “no such letter exists.”

Oliyide maintained that the “entire drama is a script designed to push Otunba Daniel out of the APC and clear the path for others eyeing the Senate ticket.”
