THE Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended former governor Gbenga Daniel and Hon. Kunle Folarin over allegations of anti-party activities.
The party’s spokesperson, Nuberu Olufemi, confirmed the decision, stating that the suspensions stemmed from petitions filed at the ward level and subsequent findings by disciplinary committees in Sagamu Local Government.
According to the state chairman, Yemi Sanusi, who presided over the meeting on August 19, both Daniel and Folarin were invited to defend themselves before the committees but failed to respond to the summons or provide written explanations.
“The committees invited the members under investigation to appear, but they neither attended nor submitted any defense. In their absence, witnesses were heard and documents were reviewed,” Sanusi said.
He further alleged that the suspended members attempted to influence the process by pressuring party members to withdraw their petitions and by discouraging cooperation with the investigations.
Following these findings, the disciplinary committees recommended indefinite suspension, which was subsequently ratified by the State Working Committee to “safeguard the integrity of the party’s internal processes.”
Sanusi emphasized that the decision underscores APC’s commitment to upholding discipline and ensuring adherence to its constitution.
