WATCH THE VIDEO HERE THE Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the murder of a lodger, Gideon Ebukwe, by unidentified gunmen at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro, Igode, located in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the state. Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola revealed the incident in a statement issued from Abeokuta, the state capital. According to Odutola, Ebukwe was shot while attempting to flee from the attackers who invaded the hotel where he was staying. Despite his efforts to escape through the ceiling, the assailants were able to locate and kill him, stealing his belongings in the process. The incident was reported around 3:30 p.m. by the CDC Chairman, Atobatele Igbosoro, who described it as a suspected assassination. “He reported that a group of five armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel and targeted guest Gideon Ebukwe, whose address is currently unknown,” she stated. During the attack, hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room while the assailants went directly to Ebukwe’s room. “In his attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was pursued and shot dead, and his belongings were taken,” Odutola added. Following the report, the divisional police officer led a team of detectives to the scene. No arrests have been made, and the body has been taken to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo. Odutola revealed that an investigation is underway to determine the nature of the crime, including whether it is related to cult activities. She noted that the case will be transferred to the Police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more thorough investigation.
