THE Ogun State Police Command has dismantled a syndicate of Cameroonian nationals allegedly involved in human trafficking, kidnapping, and deception under the pretense of visa processing.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omololla Odutola, the operation followed a distress call from a Cameroonian woman who reported being tricked into traveling to Nigeria with promises of a Canadian visa.
The victim arrived in Nigeria on September 29, 2025, and was received at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, by members of the so-called “agency.”
She and her 23-year-old sister were then taken to Mowe, Ogun State, where they were held captive.
Odutola explained that the complainant managed to escape on November 3, 2025, and alerted the police, revealing that more victims were still being held in a two-bedroom apartment in the Pakuro area.
Acting on this information, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit stormed the hideout and rescued another victim, identified as Kengne Maeva.
Two suspects, Ndzana Kamga Isidore and Tingue Stephen, were arrested during the operation, while the principal suspect, identified as Donald, remains at large.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims’ families in Cameroon had already paid a ransom of 3.6 million CFA francs into the bank account of the fleeing suspect.
The Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo has ordered intensified monitoring of such criminal activities across the state.
He also directed tactical commanders to work closely with community leaders and landlords, urging them to report any suspicious foreign nationals renting apartments.
Odutola reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, warning that criminals will find no refuge in Ogun State.
