Okonjo-Iweala reacts to death of two Ghanaian ministers in helicopter crash

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), has expressed her condolences to Ghana’s President, John Mahama, following the tragic loss of two key cabinet members in a helicopter crash.

The victims included Defense Minister Edward Kofi Boamah and Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad, who both died in the accident.

The crash, which occurred in Ghana’s central Ashanti Region, also claimed the lives of six others aboard the Z9 helicopter. The aircraft was reportedly en route from Accra to Obuasi for an official engagement.

Okonjo-Iweala wrote on X: “My deepest condolences to HE President John Dramani Mahama @JDMahama, the bereaved families and the people of Ghana for the tragic loss of the Hon. Min. of Defence Dr Edward Kofi Boamah and the Hon. Min. of Environment, Science and Technology Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad and six others in a terrible helicopter crash.

“May their souls rest in perfect peace.”
