Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has revealed that his government will soon begin commissioning completed projects across the state.
Naijaonpoint reports that he made the announcement on Saturday during a rally held in Igueben Local Government Area, a part of Edo Central.
The event also witnessed a wave of political defections, as key members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Among those who joined the APC were Hon. Eugene Inegbobho, the current representative of Igueben in the Edo State House of Assembly; Hon. Felix Omi Imiesili, a former PDP Secretary and two-time council chairman; and Hon. Sylvanus Igbogbo, who led others in defecting.
Speaking at the rally, the governor expressed his appreciation to APC supporters and residents of Igueben for their continued support.
He stated that the state would soon begin month-long commissioning of completed projects across all three senatorial zones, adding that his government was committed to delivering on its promises.
In a statement signed on Sunday by the chief press secretary to the governor, Fred Itua, Okpebholo compared his administration’s ongoing infrastructure work to past efforts.
He stated that his government was now constructing roads and working on the long-promised seaport that had remained uncompleted under the previous leadership.
He pledged that within one year, his team would achieve what the last administration failed to accomplish in eight years.
The rally drew several APC leaders, including retired General Cecil Isekhaigbe and the party’s state chairman, Jarret Tenebe.
The governor described the recent defections as a sign of growing support for the APC, and linked it to his broader plan to deliver over two million votes to the President in the 2027 elections.
