Olubadan Advisory Council Dismisses Two Mogajis Over Infractions

The Olubadan Advisory Council has officially dismissed two Mogajis (compound heads) in Ibadan, citing protests by their family members and other serious infractions.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade.

The statement confirmed that the removal of the Mogajis takes immediate effect. According to the release, the decision was made with the approval of both the Olubadan Advisory Council and the Olubadan himself.

The two dismissed Mogajis are Chief Musilu Yekini Olaoye of Peluseriki Compound, Isale Osi, Ibadan, and Chief Rasaki Funso Ayinde Oguntobi of Oloola Ogungbesan Compound, Bode, Ibadan.

The statement highlighted that the Mogajis’ removal followed protests from their family members and other serious misconduct, though specifics were not disclosed. The council warned the duo against parading themselves as Mogajis in light of the dismissal.

In other news, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has urged the public and content creators to desist from comparing who among the Yoruba kings, Alaafin of Oyo and the Ooni of Ife, is the most senior king.

Naijaonpoint reports that Chief Adams made the call in an address at the Oke Ibadan Festival 2025, held at the Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The leader of Oodua Progressive Union Worldwide warned that such a comparison could heat the polity and was unnecessary.
