The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on Friday expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to address Nigeria’s security challenges, describing the problem as surmountable.
Naijaonpoint reports that the traditional ruler stated this after a closed-door meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaking to State House correspondents, Oba Ladoja said insecurity remained the biggest challenge facing the country, especially for farmers and rural dwellers.
He said, “The major problem that we really have now is the problem of insecurity. Farmers find it difficult to go to their farms. It is already coming to the South also.
“Everybody is apprehensive of going to the farm; everybody is apprehensive of going about their daily businesses. I don’t think it is insurmountable. We believe that the President is tackling it currently.”
The Olubadan, a former governor of Oyo State, said his visit to the Villa was primarily to express appreciation to President Tinubu for his support since his coronation in September 2025.
“Since my coronation, I have been looking for an opportunity to come and say thank you to Mr President for his support,” he explained.
Speaking on Tinubu’s leadership style, Oba Ladoja pointed to the President’s track record in transforming Lagos State, expressing optimism that similar results could be achieved at the national level.
“If you know from where he (Tinubu) is coming, you will know that he knows what he is doing. He was able to get Lagos from where it was to where he left it,” the monarch said.
While acknowledging the complexities of governing Nigeria, Oba Ladoja said the economic situation was being addressed and predicted progress by the end of Tinubu’s tenure in 2031.
He added, “Nigeria is more complex than a state because not all of us have the same notion about what we want.
“The states have more money now than we had when we were governors. They are able to meet their commitments more. The economy is being fixed, and we hope that when he is leaving in 2031, he will have put Nigeria where all of us would be proud of.”
