The Ondo State Government has dismissed reports of a political rift between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Olayide Adelami, describing the claims as falsehoods aimed at misleading the public.

In a statement on Monday, the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, John Akinduro, refuted an online publication that alleged Adelami was denied access to his official residence due to a disagreement with the governor.

Akinduro said, “For the sake of well-meaning residents and lovers of Ondo State, Dr Adelami and his boss share an abiding bond and mutual respect, so significant that detractors had to make up this lie to create public mistrust and satisfy their ungodly appetite.

“Dr Adelami has often demonstrated that his loyalty to his principal remains absolute.”

The statement stressed that at no time was Adelami barred from his lodge, nor did he reside in what the report described as a “ramshackle hotel.”

According to Akinduro, Governor Aiyedatiwa had, upon assuming office, ordered a facelift of the deputy governor’s official residence, which has now been completed.

The statement noted that Adelami had consistently praised the governor’s leadership style in both public and private conversations, describing Aiyedatiwa as committed to democratic ideals and possessing an “amiable disposition.”

The government urged those behind what it called “divisive propaganda” to desist and instead support the administration’s efforts to deliver on its vision for a better Ondo State.
