ONDO: Three police officers, one suspect die auto crash

FOUR individuals, including three police officers and a female suspect, have tragically died in a fatal road accident in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area in Ondo State.

The accident, which occurred on Thursday, was caused by a trailer driver who lost control due to overspeeding, crossed the median, and collided with a police van transporting the officers and the suspect.

Eyewitnesses reported that four officers from the Monitoring Unit of the Ondo State Police Command had traveled from Akure to Ore for an arrest when the incident happened.

One officer survived the crash but sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State, Samuel Ibitoye, confirmed the accident, attributing it to the trailer driver’s reckless overspeeding.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the State Hospital mortuary in Ore.

The incident was also confirmed by Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, who described it as unfortunate.

She extended condolences to the families of the deceased and revealed that an investigation into the incident had been launched.
