One Battle After Another has achieved a major global box office milestone. With a 94% critical score and 85% audience score, the Paul Thomas Anderson movie has received significant praise and been widely hailed as one of the best movies of 2025. It is expected to receive numerous nominations for the 2026 Academy Awards.
Now, One Battle After Another has grossed a total of $200.3 million worldwide. This milestone was reached after earning an additional $1.9 million this weekend, with $1.4 million internationally and $500,000 domestically. The $200.3 million worldwide comes from an international total of $130.1 million and a domestic total of $70.2 million.
Reaching $200 million not only makes One Battle After Another Anderson’s most profitable film in years, but also cements it as having made more worldwide than Anderson’s last four movies combined. In terms of worldwide box office, Licorice Pizza (2021) made $33 million, Phantom Thread (2017) earned $52 million, Inherent Vice (2014) grossed slightly under $15 million, and The Master (2012) came away with $29 million.
There Will Be Blood (2007) was previously Anderson’s highest-grossing movie at $77 million worldwide. One Battle After Another managed to surpass this during only its second weekend in theaters, and has now more than doubled what the Daniel Day-Lewis film made.
Despite shattering Anderson’s previous box office records with $200 million, One Battle After Another seemingly will not break even. According to Variety, it had a reported budget in the $130-$175 million range. With the theatrical run winding down almost two months after first premiering in theaters, it is not going to make back more than two and a half times a $130-$175 million budget.
However, Deadline later claimed that One Battle After Another‘s break-even point is in the low $200 million range and not $300 million, meaning that the budget would have to be much lower than reported. If this is the case, reaching $200 million now is an even more momentous achievement for Anderson and the film as a whole.
Beyond the box office numbers, One Battle After Another‘s reviews are among the year’s best. For the Academy Awards, its nominations are expected to include Best Picture, Best Director (Anderson), Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), Best Actress (Chase Infiniti), Best Supporting Actor (Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro), and Best Supporting Actress (Teyana Taylor).
Compared to many of the other films expected to be nominated for the Academy Awards’ most prominent categories this year, One Battle After Another has been one of the best performers at the box office, another accomplishment on top of the overwhelmingly positive response from critics and general audiences.
