A section of a private rice mill in Birnin Kebbi has collapsed, killing one staff member and leaving five others trapped under the debris.
Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, Kebbi State deputy governor, who visited the site, expressed deep sympathy to the management and staff of NIA-AGRI, the affected facility.
The project engineer confirmed the fatality and said five workers remain trapped, prompting ongoing rescue operations by a combined team of the State Fire Service and Government Emergency Response workers.
The cause of the collapse is currently unknown and the fate of the trapped individuals remain uncertain.
The government has pledged to continue supporting the rescue efforts until all victims are accounted for.
