Victor Boniface joined Werder Bremen in a season-long loan on transfer deadline day…

Former Germany international Max Kruse believes that Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface is one of Werder Bremen’s best ever signings, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface made the trip down north, from Leverkusen to Bremen on transfer deadline day to bring an end to what was a tumultuous summer transfer window for him. Before moving to Werder Bremen, he was actually close to joining AC Milan, but it did not work out.

Boniface has since started playing for Werder Bremen, albeit he is yet to start a Bundesliga club for the game.

However, he has showed some positive signs. Even Werder Bremen coach Steffen Horst expressed awe at Boniface’s quality after his first few training sessions at the club.

Now, former Germany attacker Kruse, who also played for Werder Bremen, has also praised Boniface. The 37-year-old is convinced that the Nigerian striker is one of the best signings that Werder Bremen have ever made.

“If Victor Boniface is fit, he’s one of the best signings Werder has ever made, in my opinion. Because you just don’t normally get a player like him,” Kruse said, per Deich Stube.

Why Has Victor Boniface Not Started A Game For Werder Bremen?

Boniface is yet to start a game for Die Werderaner, and that has caught the eye, especially because of the quality and the way Steffen Horst has praised him.

This could be due to fitness issues or even a clause in his contract. There could be a clause in his contract at Werder Bremen that would see the club have to pay more if Boniface plays a specified number of minutes or games.

Nonetheless, with his quality, it is unlikely that the status quo will stay like this. In the coming weeks, his minutes will definitely get a slight bump.
