One UI 6.1 is causing touchscreen issues on the Galaxy S23

Samsung‘s One UI 6.1 update seems to be causing several issues on the Galaxy S23 series. We have already come across numerous reports about broken fingerprint recognition and slower charging speeds. Users have now brought another problem to light. They are experiencing touchscreen issues following the update.

Galaxy S23 users report touchscreen issues after the One UI 6.1 update

Over the past few days, several Galaxy S23 users have reported problems with their phones’ touchscreen following the One UI 6.1 update. In some cases, the screen is completely unresponsive to touches. Others say only a part of the screen is affected. Repeatedly tapping on the unresponsive screen sometimes registers a touch input.

A mere restart of the phone solved the problem for some users, while even wiping the partition cache didn’t help others. Most reports have come from Galaxy S23 Ultra users, but the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ also appear to be affected. Thankfully, the Ultra model reads input from the S Pen, so there is a way to use the phone. Users of the other two models are out of luck.

Some of the affected users revealed that their phones have non-OEM screens. Others didn’t specify that, though non-OEM screens may not be the only ones affected. Users have reported the issues across various online platforms, including Reddit, X, and the official Samsung community forums. Hopefully, the company has noted the reports and will roll out a fix soon.

As said earlier, this isn’t the only problem Galaxy S23 users have encountered after updating their phones to One UI 6.1. The phones are also having issues with the fingerprint scanner. It doesn’t work properly, forcing users to try multiple times. Some users have also noticed slower charging speeds. There have also been reports about devices running warmer than usual.

One UI 6.1 will soon reach more Samsung devices

Along with the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung has updated the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series to One UI 6.1. It will soon update the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, all recent foldables, and some mid-range phones and tablets. Debuted with the Galaxy S24 series, the new One UI version brings AI features, camera enhancements, and more.

However, these bug reports from Galaxy S23 users could delay the rollout of One UI 6.1 for other devices. The firm may want to fix the issues before expanding the latest version of One UI 6.1 to more products. It has yet to formally acknowledge the issues but must have noticed the reports.
