One UI 6.1 rolling out to Galaxy A73, A53, A33 & Tab Active 5

A few days ago, Samsung released the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy A54, and Galaxy A34. More mid-range devices are now getting the new One UI version. The update is rolling out to the Galaxy A73, Galaxy A53, Galaxy A33, and Galaxy Tab Active 5.

Galaxy A53 and others grab Samsung’s One UI 6.1 update

One UI 6.1 debuted on the Galaxy S24 series, bringing an extensive suite of on-device AI features. Samsung pushed most of those features to its 2023 and 2022 flagships, including foldables. Its 2021 flagships only picked up one or two AI features, while mid-range devices have entirely missed out on Galaxy AI. The Galaxy A73, Galaxy A53, Galaxy A33, and Galaxy Tab Active 5 are also getting One UI 6.1 without any AI features.

As of this writing, the Galaxy A73 is picking up the big feature update in Malaysia with the firmware build number A736BXXU7EXDC. The Galaxy A53 is getting it in Singapore with the build number A536EXXU9EXDE. The Galaxy A33 is also initially getting the update in Singapore. The new firmware version for the phone is A336EDXU8EXDD. Finally, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 is receiving it in South Korea with the build number X306NKOU1AXD7.

All of these devices are getting the April security patch with One UI 6.1. Samsung has already released the May patch for a few other devices. But the update is primarily about the new One UI version and the goodies it brings. You are getting new gallery features, editing options, improved widgets, more wallpaper customizations, more lock screen widgets, improved Samsung Health, and more new features and improvements.

Samsung should gradually expand the One UI 6.1 rollout for these devices to more markets. Some of them arrived in the US, while others didn’t. Regardless, you can expect to get this update on your Galaxy A73, Galaxy A53, Galaxy A33, or Galaxy Tab Active 5 in the coming days. As usual,  you can check for new updates from the Settings app. Since updates are released in batches, users in some markets may have to wait longer than others.

May security patch is rolling out to more Galaxy devices

As Samsung expands One UI 6.1 to more mid-range smartphones and tablets, it is also rolling out the May security patch to more Galaxy devices. The latest security release contains 55 vulnerability fixes, including three critical Android OS fixes. You should install security updates whenever available. To check for the current security patch level of your Galaxy device, navigate to Settings > About phone > Software information.
