OnePlus 13R expected to launch with flagship features at a mid-range price

Rumors about the OnePlus 13R have started to trickle before OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 13. OnePlus is rumored to be readying the OnePlus 13R, which would be a mid-range Android smartphone.

OnePlus 13R will follow OnePlus, claims the latest rumor

The OnePlus 13 has been in the news for some time owing to multiple leaks circulating online. OnePlus China head, Louis Jie, recently mentioned that the OnePlus 13 will use the BOE X2 quad micro-curved display.

Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS), has claimed that OnePlus is working on a new mid-range device. It could be a part of the OnePlus Ace series. The upcoming OnePlus 13 will be a flagship smartphone that will succeed the OnePlus 12. Hence, OnePlus would position the mystery device below the OnePlus 13.

According to DCS, the mid-range OnePlus smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm SM8750 chipset. In other words, the OnePlus 13R may feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.

The mystery OnePlus smartphone would feature a 1.5K resolution X2 display manufactured by BOE. The phone would have a 50MP Sony IMX906 primary rear camera, which would be accompanied by a 50MP Samsung JN1 telephoto lens.

Is OnePlus launching the OnePlus Ace 5?

A flagship OnePlus smartphone is usually followed by a mid-range alternative that belongs to the OnePlus Ace series. OnePlus also rebrands these smartphones as the OnePlus XR series for the global markets.

OnePlus has used this strategy for the OnePlus 11R and OnePlus 12R smartphones. If OnePlus repeats this branding and marketing strategy, the upcoming mid-range phone could be called the OnePlus Ace 5 in the Chinese market. Outside China, OnePlus may launch the smartphone as the OnePlus 13R.

The OnePlus 12R packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Hence, the upcoming mid-range smartphone may feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Needless to say, the OnePlus Ace 5 or the OnePlus 13R, could be a significant player in the mid-range market.

OnePlus is reportedly planning to announce the OnePlus 13 this month in China, followed by a global launch early next year. It is possible the company my launch the mid-range OnePlus 13R alongside its flagship cousin.
