OnePlus launches new AI features for the Nord series phones

OnePlus finally boarded the AI train earlier this year by announcing a few AI-powered features for its smartphones. Now, the company has introduced a few new AI features over the weekend. The new OnePlus AI features include AI Speak, AI Summary, and AI Writer. Notably, OnePlus is offering the new features only on a couple of budget Nord series smartphones at the moment. Thus, the brand has received criticism from the users of the high-end OnePlus flagship devices like the OnePlus 12 (review).

OnePlus launches three new AI features for its budget devices

The first of the new OnePlus AI features is called AI Speak. The AI-powered functionality assists in reading information out loud in browsers as well as in news apps. The users can select from male and female voices. You can use this feature to replay, switch sentences, and adjust playback speed.

The new AI Summary feature allows you to generate the summary of an article. Users can effortlessly copy, share, or save it to the Notes app. Additionally, you are allowed to save the selected summary to the File Dock as well. The third new feature is a writing assistant called AI Writer. It helps users draft text for various things like reviews, emails, and social media posts.

OnePlus has included all the new AI features inside the AI Toolkit, which is now directly integrated into the sidebar. You can use any of these functions by swiping out the sidebar. Before using the AI features, you will need to enable the screen recognition option. It is listed under Settings > Accessibility & Convenience.

The new OnePlus AI features only work on the Nord 4 and Nord CE4 Lite 5G at the moment

The new OnePlus AI features only work on the OnePlus Nord 4 and Nord CE4 Lite 5G smartphones at the moment. These smartphones are only available in select regions. To be more specific, the OnePlus Nord 4 retails in markets including India, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, South Asia, Russia, and Latin America. As for the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite 5G, it is available exclusively in India.

So not all the OnePlus users will be able to use the new AI features right away. Many OnePlus fans have criticized the brand for not offering the new AI functionalities on its flagship models. There’s a possibility that the company is currently testing these features on the select Nord series models. The brand may be planning a wider roll-out to more devices like the OnePlus 12 flagship in the coming weeks.
