OnePlus Open 2 isn't coming before 2025, key features tipped again

Presumably called the OnePlus Open 2, the upcoming device’s launch is delayed till next year. Now, yet another leaker has corroborated the earlier rumor. The reliable gadget leaker Digital Chat Station has suggested that the OnePlus Open 2 will launch in early 2025. In addition, they have revealed details regarding some key features of the foldable flagship.

According to the source, the OnePlus Open 2 might see the light of the day at some point in the first quarter of 2025. The new OnePlus foldable offering will be powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. This is in line with the previous reports we’ve received so far about the OnePlus Open 2. Qualcomm isn’t expected to launch its next-gen flagship chipset before November. So, the latest leak regarding the next OnePlus foldable’s launch time frame could be true.

The phone could have an upgraded hinge, a slimmer design, and a periscope camera

Furthermore, the source claims that the OnePlus Open 2 could flaunt an upgraded and lighter hinge mechanism than its predecessor. The new hinge will allow the brand to offer an overall slimmer and lighter design than the original OnePlus Open. The device is said to offer an “ultra-flat” folding main display and a high-resolution cover screen.

Lastly, the source indicates that the OnePlus Open 2 will flaunt a periscope camera lens. Unfortunately, there’s no word regarding the specific details of the camera configuration at the moment. The original Open arrived with a whopping five-camera setup. These include a 48MP main sensor, a 64MP telephoto sensor, a 48MP wide-angle sensor, a 32MP sensor on the unfolded display, and a 20MP sensor on the cover for selfies. You can probably expect that the OnePlus Open 2 will continue to offer the Hasselblad camera technology, just like its predecessor.
