OpenAI makes a content deal with Future, owner of over 200 media brands

Sam Altman’s OpenAI is partnering with media houses to gain access to their content legally. OpenAI has already struck a deal with major publications and their parent companies. Now, OpenAI has reached an agreement with Future, which owns more than 200 media brands including Tom’s Guide and PC Gamer.

OpenAI gains access to the content of Future’s media brand Tom’s Guide and more

OpenAI has announced that it now has access to the content of Future. Future, headquartered in the UK, distributes specialist content across a range of platforms. The company has many websites, newsletters, videos, magazines, and more. Some of the major Future media brands include Tom’s Guide, PC Gamer, Marie Claire, TechRadar, The Week, Who What Wear, and Cycling Weekly.

Notably, the partnership will bring Future’s journalism to new audiences through ChatGPT. The deal builds on Future’s existing deployment of OpenAI’s technology. The company has developed chatbots so you can engage more deeply with content from Tom’s Hardware and Who What Wear. Notably, Future also uses OpenAI”s tools across various functions including sales, marketing, and editorial to boost productivity.

“This partnership enables us to enhance the ChatGPT experience by providing more access to engaging, up to date and reliable information from a range of specialist sources,” said Brad Lightcap, COO, OpenAI. “Our goal is to help publishers and content creators both benefit from advanced AI technology and expand their reach.”

OpenAI already has content partnerships with various media brands

This is not the first time OpenAI has partnered with a company. The ChatGPT owner already has content partnerships with various major media houses. Notably, the company partnered with News Corp in May this year. News Corp owns many major journalistic publications. Some of the most notable publications include The Sunday Times, The Sun, The Australian, The New York Post, and The Wall Street Journal.

Furthermore, OpenAI struck a deal with Time in July this year. Time now provides OpenAI access to its 100 years of journalistic content. Time is a company that’s been around long enough to report on the Great Depression and the Second World War. So, you understand it provides access to a ton of data.
