A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, Alhaji Sani Adamu Yarin Fika, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that the opposition in the state “is dead.”
His defection was announced in a statement issued by the Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to the Yobe State Governor, Mamman Mohammed.
Naijaonpoint reports that Yarin Fika formally announced his switch during a ceremony in Damaturu, the state capital, saying Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to the development of Yobe State convinced him to join the ruling party.
“I was attracted into the APC by Governor Buni’s commitment to developing the state,” he said.
Yarin Fika pledged to contribute significantly to the governor’s achievements and progress across the state.

In a bold declaration, the former PDP strongman claimed that his supporters across the Zone B senatorial district had also moved with him to the APC.
“I want you to mark my words, PDP and any other form of opposition in Yobe State is dead,” he boasted.
Yobe APC Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, described Adamu’s defection as a major gain for the ruling party.
“We value this defection. We will support you and give you a sense of belonging, with the opportunities enjoyed by all members of the party,” Gadaka said.
He assured the new entrant of full integration and equal opportunities within the APC structure.
Governor Buni welcomed Adamu and his supporters, saying their membership carried the same value as that of every APC member.
“Your membership is equivalent to that of every member of the party,” the governor said.
Buni added that Adamu’s defection would further strengthen the party’s presence in Potiskum, Zone B, and the state at large.
“This move will improve the fortunes of the APC in the senatorial zone and across Yobe State,” he said.
