Orji Kalu Responds To Gov. Otti Over Rigging Allegation

Alex Otti vs Orji Kalu

Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has denied any involvement in election rigging, saying he will never support it.

Naijaonpoint reports that Kalu made this known while responding to what the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, said about election riggers in the Southeast state.

Speaking with journalists at his Igbere residence on Thursday, Kalu said he does not win elections through rigging but through the genuine votes of the people.

The Senator expressed confidence that his constituents’ support will lead to his re-election, emphasising that his previous election victories as governor and Senator were not due to electoral malpractice.

He said, “I have never rigged elections and I will never support that. I only want the will of the people to prevail.”

Kalu also accused Otti of allowing his media aides to attack him on social media.

Meanwhile, Kalu recently claimed that Otti would not be governor if he had not intervened.

In a statement by his media office, signed by George Maduka, the lawmaker alleged that Otti “personally visited Senator Kalu’s residence in Igbere late at night on the eve of the election”.

The statement asserted that prominent individuals involved in the Labour Party’s 2023 campaign, including Umeh Kalu, who served as the party’s coordinator in Abia State, cannot deny holding discussions with Senator Kalu concerning the governorship election.

It questioned the logic of seeking such intervention if claims of political irrelevance were indeed true.
