Super Eagles striker, Victor James Osimhen, scored a brace to help Galatasaray secure a 3-2 win against Samsunspor in the Turkish Super Lïg, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Napoli loanee was on target in the Cim Bom’s huge midweek win against Ange Postecoglu’s Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League group phase clash, scoring two after Yunus Äkgun had broken the deadlock.

Okan Buruk opted to play Osimhen as a lone striker after Mauro Icardi suffered a cruciate ligament damage in their midweek clash, bringing an end to the acute relationship the Gala fans have fallen in love with.

The coach’s decision yielded fruit after just three minutes as Osimhen headed home from a Lucas Torreira cross to settle any early nerves at the RAMS Park. The Napoli loanee celebrated by putting up Icardi’s jersey, sympathising with the Argentine striker.

Five minutes after the restart, former Tottenham Hotspur centre back, Davidson Sánchez committed a foul Samsunspor’s Landry Dimata, causing a penalty in the Galatasaray box, and the ball was nearly tucked away from twelve yards by Olivier Ntcham.

In the 55th minute, Osimhen put Galatasaray in front after a deflected cross took the ball beyond Okan Kocuk, leaving Osimhen to tap into an open goal.

Osimhen was withdrawn in the 82nd minute, but it was Michy Batshuayi who scored Galatasaray’s cross. Former Chelsea winger, Hakim Ziyech, led a counter-attack in the 85th minute before feeding a pass into the path of the Belgian striker, who then placed the ball into the far post with his left foot.

Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson conceded a foul in the 88th minute and the visitors scored another spot kick through Youssef Bennasser.

The Turkish giants are now six points clear at the top of the Super Lïg, and are still unbeaten. They’ve now won all of their last six games across all competitions.
