Victor Osimhen has become the latest Super Eagles star to suffer an injury, adding to Nigeria’s growing concerns ahead of next month’s must-win 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Footynaija.com reports.

The Galatasaray forward, on loan from Napoli, was forced off late in Monday’s goalless draw against Fenerbahce. His withdrawal raised immediate concerns, and it has now been confirmed that his substitution was due to injury.

With just a minute left on the clock, Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk replaced Osimhen with central defender Kaan Ayhan.

The Nigerian striker was later seen on the bench examining his foot, fueling speculation about the severity of the problem.

Speaking to reporters after the game at RAMS Park, club doctor Yener İnce provided a brief update, stating, “We will see, it will be clear tomorrow,” as quoted by habersarikirmizi.com. A full assessment is expected on Tuesday.

Osimhen’s setback adds to the growing injury concerns for Nigeria manager Eric Chelle. Lazio’s Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, West Brom’s Semi Ajayi, and Club Brugge’s Raphael Onyedika are all being monitored by their clubs’ medical teams after picking up injuries.

The extent of Osimhen’s injury will likely be determined before Galatasaray’s upcoming Turkish Cup fixture against Konyaspor. Chelle will be hoping for positive news as he prepares to name his squad for the crucial qualifiers.
