Osimhen out, Dessers in: Eric Chelle names 26 Super Eagles stars ahead of Unity Cup tourney

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has omitted Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman to name twenty-six other players, ahead of the Unity Cup tourney at the Gtech Community Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ahead of ...-season competition, Nigeria’s head coach made several shuffles, dropping some regulars while giving some new faces a chance to feature.

Cyriel Dessers returns to the Super Eagles squad for the first time since March 2024, where he scored from the spot kick to break the deadlock against Ghana.

Werder Bremen’s Felix Agu also gets his maiden call-up alongside Ikorodu FC’s Waliu Ojetoye, and Remo Stars’ duo – Junior Nduka and Sikiru Alimi.

Goalkeepers: Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United), Maduka Okoye (Udinese), and Amas Obasogie (Singida Black Stars).

Defenders: Bruno Onyemaechi (Olimpiacos), Olusemilogo Ajayi, Igho Ogbu (SK Slavia Prague), Ifeanyi Onyebuchi (Enugu Rangers), Junior Nduka (Remo Stars), Sodiq Ismaila (Remo Stars), Waliu Ojetoye (Ikorodu City FC) and Felix Agu (Werder Bremen).

Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City), Frank Onyeka (Brentford), Christantus Uche (Getafe C.F.), Papa Mustapha (Niger Tornadoes), Collins Ugwueze (Enugu Rangers), Saviour Isaac (Enugu Rangers).

Forwards: Samuel Chukwueze (AC Milan), Moses Simon (FC Nantes), Kelechi Iheanacho (Middlesbrough), Nathan Tella (Bayer 04 Leverkusen), Cyriel Dessers (Rangers), Tolu Arokodare (KRC Genk), Musa Ahmed (Kano Pillars), Sikiru Alimi (Remo Stars), and Abubakar Adamu (Plateau United).
