GALATASARAY striker Mauro Icardi believes the arrival of Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen and Germany winger has transformed the club into elite status in Europe.
Osimhen joined the Turkish champions from Napoli this summer on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell last season, while Sane was bought from Bayern Munich in September.
“Galatasaray was already a great club in its history, but in recent years, everyone — the coaching staff, the players, the president—has worked to improve,” Icardi said today as he previewed tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League clash at home to Union Saint-Gilloise.
“We are now one of the best clubs in Europe. Players like Victor (Osimhen) and Sane, who were previously considered unthinkable and expensive, have been transferred.
“There are many players who want to join us now. It’s a pride for me to have contributed to this. It’s an honor to be here.”
Osimhen cost Galatasaray €75 million and has scored nine goals in 12 appearances across all competitions this season.
The 26-year-old has especially been prolific in the Champions League, scoring six goals in just three matches and leading the scorers chart.
Former Manchester City star Sane, 29, joined Galatasaray in the summer from Bayern Munich as a free agent and has registered three goals and three assists in 16 appearances.
