Victor Osimhen’s transfer story is moving into a decisive phase, and one of the people closest to him has now made it clear where he believes the Super Eagles striker should go, Footynaija.com reports.

Ogenyi Onazi, who won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations alongside the likes of Mikel Obi and Vincent Enyeama, says he has already told Osimhen what he thinks is best for his career, and it is not Chelsea or Manchester United.

In a recent interview, Onazi explained that Osimhen has already achieved legendary status in Naples, after firing Napoli to their first Serie A title since Diego Maradona. But now that the striker has returned from a record-breaking loan spell at Galatasaray, where he scored 37 goals and helped them win the league, the former Lazio midfielder believes it is time to move on.

“I would not want Osimhen to return to Napoli,” Onazi said, as revealed by Footy Africa. “Hopefully, he gets a move away from the club and joins another team in Italy or, preferably, in England.”

When pressed on the ideal club, Onazi was direct.

“If I were to pick a club for him, I would say Arsenal, as they need a striker and can play to his strengths. He will succeed with them,” he added.

Arsenal, for their part, are actively searching for a new forward this summer. The club has narrowed its attention to Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting CP and Benjamin Šeško of RB Leipzig. However, none of them has Osimhen’s proven Champions League impact or track record across top five leagues.

This makes Onazi’s public opinion even more significant, especially since he revealed that he spoke to Osimhen directly before his contract extension at Napoli.

He reportedly reminded him that “if anything goes south, they will not remember what he has already done” at the Italian club.
