The Old Students Association of St. Mark’s Commercial High School, Osogbo, has held its 2025 Annual National Reunion to strengthen unity and reinforce networking among members for greater opportunities and collective development.
The reunion, which was held on Saturday at the school premises in Osogbo, Osun State, brought together alumni from different sets and chapters.
In his welcome address, the President of the Old Students Association, Ambassador Popoola Isiaka Olamilekan, said the reunion was organised to appreciate God for the gift of life, strengthen alumni networks, and reinforce unity among members of the association.
Ambassador Popoola stated that as part of the programme, the association presented four Awards of Meritorious Service to deserving members in recognition of their unwavering commitment and support toward the growth and development of the association.
He added that three Awards of Academic Excellence were also presented to the overall best students in Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3 of the Senior Secondary School in the alma mater to celebrate academic achievements and motivate other students.
The association president disclosed that the Old Students Association recorded notable achievements over the past year, some of which were visible while others were not immediately apparent.
According to him, these achievements included the rehabilitation of the front section of the school fence, clearing of debris at the school frontage, and support to sustain the school’s West African Examinations Council accreditation status.
He further revealed that the association facilitated the registration of 70 external candidates for the 2025 WAEC examination in the school. The President noted that the association also supported various infrastructural projects implemented through collaboration between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Osun State Government.
Ambassador Popoola listed the projects to include the renovation of four classrooms, provision of an electric generator, installation of a complete electric-powered water pump system, and the installation of 11 modern writing boards in classrooms, noting that the interventions had eased the burden on students, staff, and school management.
He stated that the association intended to provide direct support to students of the school in the coming years, attract more developmental projects, and strengthen welfare services for members.
Ambassador Popoola urged alumni and stakeholders to continue contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of the school.
The association president also appreciated members and individuals who contributed funds toward the successful hosting of the 2025 Annual National Reunion Meeting, describing their support as vital to the progress of the association and the development of the alma mater.
