Tragedy struck in Elele community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State wee hours of Friday,27th June,2025 when a member of a local vigilante, code named Organized Security Planning and Advisory Committee, OSPAC known as Godspower and his colleague J Boy allegedly beat Confidence Ikechi, father of two children to death over quarrel with the Girlfriend to the OSPAC personnel.
Chiwenkpe Ikechi, Elder brother to the deceased, Confidence Ikechi in an interview with Journalists said
“My brother closed work and came back by 11pm.He came to where I work and drink.Then he went back to his compound.A lady in the compound started embarrassing him, that he is a drunkard,that he is smelling.
“She now pour him(Confidence) saliva, also give him a dirty slap.Then he(Confidence) retaliated and slapped her back.And the lady carry stick with her Son, started hitting him.
“Unfortunately, the lady run away to call her boyfriend who is an OSPAC man, two of them came and kill the young guy(Confidence).They drove in the compound, used stick and machete to hit him on his chest, stomach and back, he started bleeding.The thing they plan,they also did it and killed the young boy(Confidence).
“The next morning, I now rushed to the Police station,before I will come back from the Police station, the OSPAC person have also come back to confirm if the young boy is dead. And also dropped message to the young boy that he should tell his brothers and the community that nothing they can do to them
“The OSPAC are Godspower, Jboy and others, then when I came back, that was the last comment my young brother(Confidence) made before he gave up.As I was coming out from the compound,the same OSPAC point me and my mother gun, that they will shoot me and shoot my mother,that the case will not go to any where ,I said ok, you people should kill me and kill my mother, let me see how you people can kill two brothers and mother Lets see if we don’t have where we came from.
“They said I should enter their Sienna, I said never,either they kill me or anything other thing.They said ok, that I don’t want to enter the Sienna,that they will make sure that they kill me or kill my mother.
“The Police caught the OSPAC personnel through our information. Elele Police in Ikwerre Local Government The matter has been transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, PH. We need them to be sentenced.They cannot kill the young boy and go free”.
The Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command,SP Grace Iringe Koko was yet to respond to enquiry on the incident by our reporter but as at press time we gathered that the OSPAC personnel, Godspower, his girlfriend and the girlfriend’s Son are detained at SCIID, PortHarcourt.
We gathered that the deceased was also a member of OSPAC vigilante in his own community in Obelle, Emohua LGA but presently resides at Elele community.
