Osun 2026: Accord Party Names Akande Caretaker Chair, Clears New Members For Contest

Accord Party

Ahead of the Osun State 2026 governorship election, the National Executive Council of the Accord Party has approved the constitution of a Caretaker Committee for its Osun chapter.

The committee will be headed by Pastor Victor Akande, following the expiration of the tenure of the former leadership.

Naijaonpoint reports that the NEC also ratified the Electoral Guidelines for the forthcoming Osun State gubernatorial primaries, signalling its readiness to commence preparations for the 2026 election.

In addition, the council constituted the Electoral Committee that will oversee the party’s governorship primaries in the state. It expressed optimism about the party’s chances, noting its confidence that Accord would win the 2026 election.

As part of its resolutions, the NEC approved a general waiver for numerous Nigerians who recently joined the party and intend to contest elections on its platform.

The move, it said, was aimed at promoting inclusiveness and expanding the party’s electoral base.

The party further approved the establishment of Women and Youth Directorates at all levels, National, Zonal, State, Local Government, Ward and Polling Unit.

According to the NEC, the directorates will help strengthen membership recruitment and enhance grassroots mobilisation across the country.

In the spirit of “oneness and progress,” Accord lifted the suspension of several members in Osun State as it intensifies preparations for the governorship election.

The NEC also passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, affirming his position as National Chairman.
