Osun 2026: NNPP Sets The Ball Rolling As INEC Announces Election Date

As the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced August 8, 2026 for the gubernatorial election in Osun state, New Nigeria Peoples Party has declared its readiness for the forthcoming election.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, announced the scheduled dates for Ekiti and Osun elections on Friday during the swearing-in of six newly appointed Residents Electoral Commissioners whose nominations were recently approved by the Nations Assembly.

As INEC fixed the Osun election for August, Ekiti state’ that will precede it was fixed for July 20, 2026.

In view of this, the Osun state chapter of NNPP said it was a news being expected as it would definitely change the political atmosphere in the state.

In a release by its state chairman, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, NNPP said it can’t wait to sack the PDP government that is daily striving on propaganda in governing the state.

According to him, ‘Now that the coast is becoming clearer, our party will start the tour of every ward in Osun state to sensitise the citizens on the need to vote their conscience not emotion.

‘Our doors are opened for everyone with good intentions of governing Osun, we will welcome such individuals with open arms and treat them equally with present members.

‘We will also ensure a collaboration with any people-oriented political party that is ready to salvage our dear state from this government of nepotism.

‘As we’ve earlier affirmed, the Osun 2026 gubernatorial election will be a funny and surprise game, the one which we have never experienced in the state before.

Odeyemi however advised the political gladiators in the state to play the game according to the rule and for no reason will anybody, because of selfish interest, set the state on fire.
