A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Akinade Ogunbiyi, has called on party leaders and stakeholders in Irepodun Local Government to place the state’s future above all considerations when choosing the party’s flagbearer.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by his media office, Ogunbiyi is currently on a tour of all local government areas in the state to seek support ahead of the party’s primaries.

During his visit to Ilobu town, he emphasized the importance of unity and purposeful leadership in delivering good governance to the people.

He noted that the APC has a team of competent aspirants with a desire to serve, stressing the need for the party to remain guided by its progressive ideology, people-focused governance approach, and democratic principles.

Ogunbiyi said, “We have a team of competent aspirants with desire to serve. We are one party bound by progressive ideology, people oriented governance, and rooted in democratic principles and philosophy.”

The tour is part of Ogunbiyi’s ongoing grassroots engagement strategy aimed at securing the party’s governorship ticket for the August 8, 2026 election.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier announced it would publish the names of candidates of political parties contesting for the 2026 governorship seat by December.

The commission also confirmed that the conduct of party primaries, including the resolution of disputes arising from the primaries, will start on the 24th of November, 2025, and end on the 15th of December, 2025, while the submission of nomination forms will hold between January 15th and February 9th, 2026.
