…endorses Tinubu for second term
The Osogbo Progressive Youth Movement has demanded that Osogbo produce the next governor of Osun State and called for the adoption of Kunle Rasheed Adegoke (K-RAD) as the APC gubernatorial candidate for 2026.
The group made the appeal on Wednesday at the Renewed Hope & Osogbo Agenda Solidarity Rally held in Osogbo, the state capital, as they endorsed Tinubu for second term.
Speaking with newsmen, a member of the Group , Adeagbo Suraj Ademola stated that the rally was organised to inform the public that Osogbo must produce the next governor.
He noted that the group was appealing to President Bola Tinubu to consider Kunle Rasheed Adegoke SAN as the APC flag bearer for the 2026 governorship election.
Ademola said Adegoke had been prepared to lead the party to victory and strengthen its chances in both the gubernatorial and presidential elections.
He affirmed that Osogbo, as the administrative headquarters of Osun State, had never produced a governor since the state was created in 1991.
Ademola noted that allowing Osogbo to produce the next governor would promote fairness, equity and inclusion across the state, and attract wider support and ensure stronger mobilisation of votes in the coming elections.
Also commenting, Babatunde Adebayo stated that Osogbo deserved the governorship slot, adding that silence over the years had contributed to the prolonged delay.
He appealed to the public to reflect on political developments in Ibadan, explaining that the city insisted on producing a governor and eventually succeeded, while affirming that Osogbo must also insist on producing an indigene as governor in 2026.
He noted that Kunle Rasheed Adegoke had previously contested but could not advance due to internal party arrangements.
Adebayo stated that Osogbo had now decided to speak up after years of silence, which led to the mobilisation for the solidarity rally.
Also speaking, Habeebatu Adejare stated that she was born and raised in Osogbo and joined the rally to appeal directly to President Tinubu.
She said the group wanted a governor who is an indigene of Osogbo and urged the President to grant their request.
Adejare affirmed that the people of Osogbo were united in their demand for an indigenous son to lead the state in 2026.
