THE Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke and the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced via Governor Adeleke’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle today following a strategic meeting with the Osun PDP caucus in Osogbo.
“After extensive consultations across Osun with traditional rulers, civil servants, market leaders, and grassroots stakeholders, I remain committed to the PDP—the party that gave me the opportunity to serve,” Adeleke wrote.
“I have also been endorsed by the Osun PDP to seek re-election in 2026. In the same spirit, we are endorsing President Tinubu for a second term in 2027, recognizing him as a proud son of our state.”
He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on his administration’s Five-Point Agenda and expressed gratitude for the continued support from the people of Osun.
The move comes after months of speculation surrounding Adeleke’s political loyalty, with rumours suggesting he was preparing to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The rumours intensified after a private visit to President Tinubu in Lagos on June 3, where Adeleke was accompanied by his brother, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, and their nephew, singer Davido.
Former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, reignited the conversation on July 16, describing Adeleke as a “political orphan” allegedly seeking refuge in the APC—an assertion the governor has repeatedly denied.
In May and again in early July, Adeleke dismissed defection claims, stating clearly that he had no intention of leaving the PDP.
In his July 5 statement, he emphasized, “I remain a loyal member and the leader of the PDP in Osun State. My focus is on delivering good governance and fulfilling our 5-point agenda.”
Despite his endorsement of Tinubu, Adeleke has maintained that his political base and loyalty remain with the PDP.
