Osun Government Gives Fresh Appointment To Davido

The Osun State Government has appointed Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as the chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund.

Naijaonpoint reports that the appointment, announced by the state’s Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, aims to boost funding and development in the sports sector.

According to the government, Davido’s new role is expected to help attract financial support from both local and international donors to improve sports in the state.

Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration also restated its dedication to reviving sports infrastructure, including the ongoing renovation of the Osogbo Township Stadium.

The government said the stadium would meet Olympic standards once the upgrade is completed.

Adewusi added that plans were underway to create the Osun State Sports Commission, which would oversee sports administration, policy, and development.

He said that the trust fund, now chaired by Davido, was designed to ensure sustainable funding and progress for athletes and facilities across the state.

He said, “Ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards, a project that will be completed in the shortest possible time.

“I am pleased to inform you that plans are in advanced stages towards the establishment of the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as a central body for sports administration, development, and policy implementation. Introduction of a Sports Trust Fund to attract support from sports philanthropists within and outside the state, ensuring sustainable sports financing and development.

“Davido has been appointed to chair the Sports Trust Fund, and he did not hesitate in accepting the appointment. His intervention would attract funds that would impact Osun sports positively.”
