The office of the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals in Osun State in collaboration with the official photographer to the governor has organized a one day bootcamp to mark World Photography Day.
The event tagged Beyond the Frame held in Osogbo on Tuesday, 19th August 2025, brought together photographers, storytellers, and filmmakers across Osun State for intensive training.
According to the Special Adviser on SDGs, Hon. Bankole Omishore, the bootcamp is in line with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s five point agenda to empower the youth and create opportunities in the creative industry.
He revealed that the state has already acquired digital cameras, editing software, and set up content creation facilities for young people to access at the SDG office.
Omishore disclosed that the training will not end with the bootcamp as plans are underway for an SDG Creative Week and other capacity development initiatives to further support creatives in the state.
Speaking with newsmen, the official photographer to the governor, Hammid Kazeem, explained that the bootcamp was conceived to bridge the gap of collaboration among photographers, cinematographers, storytellers, and content creators in Osun.
He said the initiative is aimed at building a community where young talents can share ideas, work together, and transform the narrative of creativity in the state.
Kazeem encouraged participants to go beyond just taking pictures or creating content, urging them to focus on capturing moments that tell compelling stories. He stressed that the long term goal is to raise a generation of skilled visual storytellers who can compete globally.
One of the beneficiaries, Emmanuel Oladunjoye, a virtual storyteller and cinematographer, described the bootcamp as an eye opener. He said the training exposed him to ways of selling himself and investing wisely as a young creative in Osun State.
The organizers noted that the initiative is the first of many to come and expressed optimism that it will empower youths and strengthen the creative industry in Osun State.
