Osun woman who chose N300,000 cash over operation to remove her goitre dies

A woman, Mrs Folakemi from Ede, Osun State, who preferred cash of N300,000 instead of a free operation to have the goitre which had afflicted her for years removed, is dead.
Folakemi sought medical help for her condition and a medical team graciously offered her free treatment.
She, however, reportedly opted out and instead asked that the money raised be handed to her.
She reportedly went back to her village in Osun with the hope that her government, which had learnt about her issue through a viral video and promised to assist her, would fulfil the pledge.
But that happened to be a misplaced hope.
According to media reports, a director of a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) who had taken an interest in the case was able to convince her to let go of the money to have the operation done.
However, the surgery reportedly went awry which led to her death.
