The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Osun State chapter, has elected Engr. John Olufemi Adesuyi as its governorship candidate for the 2026 election in the state.
Adesuyi was elected by delegates through a voice vote during the party’s primary held on Saturday in Osogbo, the state capital.
The primary electoral committee was chaired by Chief Ogunmodede, with Olaniyi Lateef serving as secretary.
In his acceptance speech, Engr. Adesuyi vowed to uphold the manifesto of the party and place the interests and welfare of the people first, noting that ZLP is determined to move Nigeria to greater heights.
He stated that Osun State is blessed with resources but said successive administrations had failed to utilize them for the benefit of the state.
Adesuyi promised that state resources would be used for the benefit of Osun people and said he would run an “Osun for Osun” government if elected governor on August 8, 2026.
The ZLP governorship candidate said his administration has map-out plan to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to move Osun State forward and improve security across the state.
Outlining his proposed governance agenda, Adesuyi said his government would strengthen the education system, develop the agricultural sector, and improve security.
He added that his administration would prioritize the welfare of the people, empower women, and use technology to enhance businesses and position them on a global level through a programme tagged “Get-Osun-Business-Online.”
Adesuyi also said he would pursue bilateral relationships with Côte d’Ivoire to empower the people and ensure development reaches all parts of the state without discrimination.
