WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar scored his first goal for Valencia in their 2-0 win over Ourense at Estadio de Couto on Tuesday, Soccernet.ng reports. Sadiq got his first start for Valencia since joining the club when they traveled to Ourense for their round of 16 Copa Del Rey tie. The Super Eagles star had previously appeared in two games off the bench, but he failed to score. The first half ended goalless, as both teams failed to take their chances. However, the goal scoring started in the second half. Oursense defender Francisco Carmona Garcia scored an own goal in the 50th minute to make it 1-0. Then Sadiq struck in the 78th minute to make it 2-0. The Super Eagles striker had struck the crossbar just a few minutes earlier. This time, he displayed some beautiful footwork in the box, leaving two Ourense defenders for dead before striking a wicked curler into the goal.
That effort was just enough for Los Ches to claim a 2-0 win over their opponents from the third tier of Spanish football. The win automatically sealed Valencia’s place in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey. They will know their opponents once the current round of games are done. Meanwhile, Sadiq will be hoping to take his goalscoring form to La Liga and help Valencia start winning games.
