In a video sighted by IntelRegion on Friday morning, May 16, 2026, no fewer than 80 young men were seen claiming to have arrived from Katsina State to work as labourers at Dangote Refinery located in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos. The unidentified man who made the video asked some of them about their nationalities, they claimed to be Nigerians and also showed thier national identification number (NIN) card to support the claim. This has generated concerns among Lagosians and many social media users. Some fear these young men might actually be bandits disguising as job seekers, while others believe they’re simply victims of insecurity – desperate people just trying to survive. Aminu Yaro Na-abba, a Facebook user said; “You left vast lands for farming, embarked on a disgracing journey in search of labour somewhere. This is so unfortunate.” AmaraGod Ejikeme reacted; “Them don dey enter small small soon Lagos insurance go start and will be a terror mark my word.” @uhl_movings, on X questioned; “What kinda work exactly can they do in a petrochemical refinery?” Abba Umar in his reaction wrote; “So what is there offence? Atleast they showed their faces and NIN. Why is he hiding his face owner of lagos.” Abbas M Dauda on Facbeook said; “Insecurity and poverty have made and will still continue chasing people from their hometowns if our northern leaders did not tackle it. “Without investigation deep on why they left their towns, if truly they were from Katsina state definitely it’ll be due to the lack of peace in their Communities. They are chased out of their villages or ask to pay taxes by bandits, their female children and wives are raped, male youth are slaughtered to death. “If Lagos people laugh at them or mock them I won’t blame them but I’ll have to blame their governor, Senate reps., house reps, and all the people occupying public service office because they show that they are servicing their pockets and families only. Augustine Dominic commented; “Katsina is bedevilled with insecurity, maybe they’re just migrate from wartorn zone seeking for greener pasture. Govt has slots at hands to do.” Don’t miss out on any real-time information.
