The Deputy Registrar, Students’ Affairs of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, Rahman Onike, has died.
Onike, a native of Oyo town, reportedly became indisposed shortly after delivering a lecture on campus on Thursday. He was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care, but was later confirmed dead.
The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Opeyemi Olawore, confirmed the death in a statement issued on Friday on behalf of the Rector, Professor Akinola Akinlabi.
Olawore said the sudden passing came as a shock to the management, staff, and students of the institution.
She said, “It is with a heavy heart but in submission to the will of Almighty Allah that the Rector, Professor Akinola Akinlabi, announces the death of a highly resourceful staff and seasoned administrator, Alhaji Onike Rahman, the Deputy Registrar, Students’ Affairs for Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora.
“The deceased, who became indisposed shortly after delivering a lecture on campus, was rushed to the hospital for prompt medical attention but was later pronounced dead by medical experts.
“The Rector, therefore, commiserates with the registry department, staff, students, friends, colleagues, wife, children and family over the colossal loss.
He joined the services of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, as an Administrative Officer II in 2008 and rose to the position of Deputy Registrar. He was an Alumnus of Saint Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo, University of Ibadan, Olivet High School, among others.”
