WATCH THE VIDEO HERE A man, his wife, and their grandson have reportedly lost their lives in a house fire in Ibadan, Oyo State. The incident occurred at 3:46 PM yesterday in Ori-Eru, Idikan. In a statement confirming the incident, CSP Olaniyan Jibola of the Mapo Division explained that the fire broke out in a six-room residential storey building. The victims reportedly succumbed while trying to keep warm using an open fire due to the cold weather. “Upon arrival, we found the upper floor of the storey building engulfed in flames. We immediately took action, and the fire was completely extinguished,” the statement read. “It was discovered that the victims had fallen asleep after lighting the fire.” Three bodies were recovered from the scene, while five others were rescued from the building. The fire did not affect the ground floor or neighboring properties. The police were assisted in controlling the situation by a team from Amotekun, led by Gbenga Akinyemi of the North West Division.
