The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on Tuesday announced a power outage in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, citing a “technical fault” as the cause.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, AEDC listed the affected areas as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Quarters, Adamu Alero, Babagana Kinigbe, Nasir El-Rufai and environs, and Asokoro.
“Dear valued customers in INEC Quarters, Adamu Alero, Babagana Kinigbe, Nasir El-Rufai and environs, Asokoro. We regret to inform you that the ongoing power outage affecting your area is due to a technical fault,” the statement read.
“Our technical team is working tirelessly to restore power supply as quickly as possible,” AEDC added.
This latest outage comes as the company had earlier announced an extension of scheduled power interruptions in parts of Abuja, from June 30 to July 31, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. daily.
The extended outage, according to AEDC, is due to the ongoing construction of a dedicated 33-kilovolt feeder by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to power the Africa Medical Centre of Excellence.
Affected areas in the ongoing project include Apo Mechanics, Waru, Apo Primary, Lokogoma, Kabusa, Galadimawa, Trademore Estate, CBN Quarters, El-Rufai Estate, Metro City, Brains & Hammers (behind Shoprite), Sunny Vale Estate, Pleasant Estate, NMA Estate, Yayale Estate, Super Cell Estate, Gudu, and Abuja Investment Estate.
