The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has announced plans to hold a special thanksgiving service on Sunday to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The service, which is themed “The King of Kings,” will be led by the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, at the Throne of Grace, RCCG National Headquarters, Redemption Way, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Assistant Pastor in charge of Province 1, Pastor Olusegun Macaulay, said the thanksgiving service is designed as a call to intercede for the country.
He noted that Pastor Adeboye, guided by divine direction, will lead special prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, and progress.
According to the statement, intercessions during the programme will cover the executive, legislative, and judicial arms of government, as well as key national institutions, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies.
The prayers, Pastor Macaulay said, will also be extended to political leaders, elder statesmen, and other stakeholders in the Nigerian project.
The service, scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. on October 5, 2025, is open to the general public. The church encouraged Nigerians to join the gathering and lift collective prayers for divine direction and stability in the nation.
“The event will be an opportunity for all stakeholders and citizens to come together in unity of purpose, seeking God’s hand for the continued progress of our country,” the statement added.
