Super Eagles star Paul Onuachu will be unavailable for selection for Trabzonspor when they take on Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig next week, Soccernet.ng reports.
Onuachu has been the lynchpin for the Black Sea Storm this season, contributing 11 goals and one assist in 15 league appearances.
The Super Eagles star has scored some beautiful goals for his team, and his strikes have been key, as he has accounted for almost 40% of their goals this campaign.
As a result, Trabzonspor currently sits second in the Super Lig, with 34 points from 15 games.
Onuachu was in action for Trabzonspor when they faced high-flying Goztepe away from home. Although he did not score or assist, he put in a solid shift for his club.

Before the game, Onuachu was walking a tightrope as he had been carded three times, and a fourth caution would result in an automatic one-game suspension.
However, he still got booked in the 76th minute after a bad foul. Hence, he will miss their Super Lig cracker against Besiktas on Sunday.
His absence will be a significant blow for Trabzonspor, considering how vital the game is for both teams.

Will Paul Onuachu Make Eric Chelle’s AFCON 2025 Squad?

Paul Onuachu is currently the highest-scoring Super Eagles striker in Europe, but his place in Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations squad is still uncertain.
Recall that earlier, Soccernet.ng pinpointed him as one of the high-profile players who might not make Nigeria’s squad.
Despite his fine form since the start of the European season, coach Eric Chelle has continued to overlook him. Onuachu did not even make Nigeria’s squad in any of the last three international windows.
With the tournament very close, it is unlikely that the Franco-Malian tactician will change his position on Onuachu.

However, since Onuachu will not play for Trabzonspor next week, he will be able to join the training camp early if called up, and that could tilt the scale in his favour.
The Super Eagles face Egypt in a preparatory fixture next week, and if called up, Onuachu will be able to report to camp before then and play.
Chelle is expected to reveal his final squad in the coming days, and Onuachu will be hoping that he gets his chance.
