WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has joined Nigerians in mourning the senseless murder of CSP Ali Baba, the Divisional Police Officer at Rano in Kano State. On Monday night, a mob—outraged by the reported in-custody death of a suspect—stormed the Rano police station. In the chaos that followed, CSP Ali Baba was fatally attacked. “We are devastated,” said Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, PCRC’s National Chairman, in a statement released in Abuja. “We pray that Almighty God grants his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and may his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said. Olaniyan offered his condolences to Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, the Kano State command, and, most poignantly, to the late officer’s family. The PCRC is urging the authorities to move swiftly and ensure those responsible face justice. He also appealed to everyday Nigerians to see the police not as adversaries but partners in keeping communities safe. He reaffirmed the PCRC’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in its mission to uphold law and order and safeguard the lives and property of all Nigerians.
