Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reconciled his deputy, Kola Adewusi, and aggrieved leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency, ending weeks of internal wrangling that threatened the unity of the ruling party.

At a peace meeting in Osogbo attended by Adewusi, Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Dr. Lere Oyewumi, Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, and other top stakeholders, Adeleke declared that the conflict, which led to a vote-of-no-confidence against the deputy governor and some party leaders, had been fully resolved.

The governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the rift was primarily the product of a communication gap and external plots to destabilise the party.

Adeleke said, “Throughout this meeting today, I see Ile-Ife PDP very truly united. Now that we have seen the roots of the matter, I charge us to get back to work. Ile-Ife is a PDP territory. Go back and sustain the tempo.”

He praised party elders, senatorial leaders, chairmen, and operatives for demonstrating unity, adding that his administration had already delivered tangible projects in Ifeland and would continue to do so.

Osun PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, downplayed the rift, describing the incident that led to the no-confidence vote as a “family affair” and commending all sides for showing maturity and commitment to the party’s progress.

On September 1, PDP leaders in Ife Federal Constituency had passed a no-confidence vote in Adewusi, former PDP National Secretary Prof. Wale Oladipo, and Ife East PDP chairman Olasunkanmi Makinde, accusing them of fraternising with ex-lawmaker Bimbo Ajilesoro, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Punch, insiders suggested that the crisis was not unconnected with speculations about a possible replacement of Adeleke’s deputy ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

However, following the reconciliation, party stakeholders believe the PDP in Ifeland’s four local government areas can now close ranks and rally support for Adeleke’s re-election bid.
