… I Will Go To Court, Says Ex-Gov
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has tactically blocked a former Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido from joining the race for the party’s national chairman.
Lamido, who was at the PDP Abuja national secretariat on Monday to obtain the chairmanship nomination forms, didn’t have any of the party’s national officers to attend to him.
Statutorily, the office of the National Organising Secretary (NOS), is in charge of sale of nomination forms for state, federal as well as internal party elections, including the national convention.
Speaking with journalists after his failed bid to obtain the forms, Lamido said he met the office of the NOS, Umar Bature under lock and key.
According to him, he decided to visit the office of the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, where he met Bature in a banter with Anyanwu.
Lamido said following his inquiries, both the National Organising Secretary and the National Secretary said they knew nothing about the printing and sale of nomination forms for the upcoming convention.
Lamido said, “Well, I went to the office of the National Organising Secretary, which is normally the office where the forms are sold, and the office was locked.
“I think it was officially locked, you know, because of his own position. So, I met him with the Secretary of the Party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. I said, look, I am here to buy the form.
“Both of them said they had no idea where the forms are, not even how they were printed or the kind of forms they are. They had no idea where they were being sold.
“So, I found it a little bit weird that the custodian of the system, who is the National Organising Secretary, is also being locked out because I am coming in. So, they may not be able to go into the office.
“I went to the Secretary of the Party, and the two of them were there. They said, look, we have no idea what is happening about the party nomination; sale of the forms, or even how they are printed, or the kind of forms. So, I am now stranded.”
Lamido threatened to take the PDP leadership to court if the party failed to make the nomination forms available to him.
PDP Governors had, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, adopted a former Minister, Tanimu Turaki as consensus candidate for the national chairman.
But Lamido, backed by some leaders of the PDP in the North West, is challenging the choice of the governors.
By the nomination, Turaki, who is from Kebbi State, is expected to have his nomination ratified at the PDP national convention slated to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State on November 15-16.
