PDP chieftain leads 40-day prayer for late ex-president Buhari

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Showunmi has organised a 40-day prayer session for Nigeria’s former president, late Muhammadu Buhari.

Showunmi, a former aide to the ex-vice president, Atiku Abubakar organised the prayer under the auspices of The Alternative Movement in Ogun State on Friday, August 22.

As the convener of the group, the PDP chieftain stated that the 40-day fidau prayer was aimed at honouring the memory and legacies of the late former president.

The Fidau prayer, organised at the Keesi Town Hall in Abeokuta, was also conducted in Katsina to honour the late former Buhari.

The former president had died at a London private hospital on July 13, 2025.

Buhari died at the age of 82 after a brief illness while surrounded by members of his family and loved ones.

He was buried in his private residence in Daura, Katsina State at a ceremony attended by top dignitaries including President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima on July 15.
